Reclaimed Red Kraut & Onion Gravy

Quick, easy and absolutely divine.

I love using my krauts and kimchis in cooking, they elevate all of my meals and it's super handy for impressing others. They change up your everyday favs, but is literally as simple as just adding it in e.g. with your instant gravy.

Crafty Pickle is your reliable ally when it comes to making meals to impress. You could have a couple of different gravies at the dinner table with different kraut variations; leaving your guests feeling like you've gone to all the effort, without needing to purchase multiple random items or add time to your cooking.

Have fun with this Reclaimed Red Kraut and onion gravy and why not try your own kraut and gravy combos. We'd love to know what you come with!

Ingredients (serves 2)

Gravy granules x 4 heaped tbsp

Small red onion x 1

Vegetable oil x 1 tbsp

Water x 280ml

Reclaimed Red Kraut x 3-6 tbsp, depending on your preference

(Optional, 1-2 tbsp of red wine for a richer gravy)

1. Finely slice red onion.

2. Heat oil in a pan and the add onions, cooking for a few mins until they soften.

3. Add 1/4 of the water along with the Reclaimed Red Kraut (as well as the red wine, if using).

4. Once water is hot add the gravy granules and mix until smooth.

5. Then add the rest of the water, mixing well. You can always add more water to get a thinner consistency.

*If you prefer to make your own gravy, you can do so and then simply add the Reclaimed Red Kraut and cook for about 5 mins.
